This time it isn’t Jim Crow in the southern region in America but the Chinese Public Security Bureau. China will host the 2008 Olympic Games beginning Friday August 8, 2008. Their signs, quiet little decree to bar owners, and crack down on black men in public: NO BLACKS AND MONGOLIANS speaks volumes.
I am not shocked nor outraged as China’s record on human rights with their own people is reprehensible and should have been reason enough to strip the country of its privilege of hosting the 2008 games. The Jim Crow styled segregation era letters are being circulated to many Chinese tavern owners in efforts to rid their country of undesirables.
Wow.
The euro-centric point of view being demonstrated here is proof of the messed up “marginalized” person’s mind. In was only a short time ago in our history when “Chinamen”were the scourge of the earth and such edicts were circulated about them. My, my how times have changed. The oppressed seems to have donned the oppressor’s clothing and personality. Word to the unwise: The search for whiteness is a futile one as there is no such thing…I only hope they are able to understand it before it’s too late.

unfortunately, i don’t think it’s euro-centric. we have a friend who was in singapore and south asia who said that he was ignored because he is black. he also said that they paid a lot of attention to his white friends while looking past him. he mentioned that that was typical all over asia, and that there was one time when he went to a pastor’s conference and a bunch of church leaders approached him about working amongst the dark-skinned because no one else will. i kid you not. it’s that segregated.
i think it has more to do (and this i got from an indian friend) with darker skin signifying that you’re outside more and doing fieldwork. in india, if you do work outside, you are considered less of a person. it’s a kind of sub-servant hood. it’s horrible. but i’m not sure its roots are european / north american.

Whiteness has always (globally) been placed on a higher plane than darker skin…the lighter skin is considered better than the darker. Eurocentric from that standpoint

man…guess white privilege/supremacy really obscurs one’s ability to see its damaging effects on all of humans (on a reasoning level/mental psycho capacity)….the lens of white supremacy leads to disjuncture with what actually IS…
I am sad about this. The USA already new about this a year ago, the reason why we did not baycot was due to the fact that china has bought nearly 80 percent of our debt, funny money the rule of evil all over the WORLD. The US government again showing how they turn from Reality because of money, we did it in WWII, did not believe the Jewish people what Hittler was doing to them until we saw pictures, What a country of ours, what we do for the sake of money which will come to hunt us in the decades to come, SHAME ON THE USA.
