The Supreme Court has decided that Hoosiers who vote on Tuesday May 6, 2008 will have to bring their picture Id’s with them. Howard Dean, DNC Chair, and Wolf Biltzer, CNN analyst, agree that the ID requirement will lead to disenfranchisement.
Yesterday’s South Bend Tribune (A central Indiana newspaper) published that vital records offices will be open on Monday and Tuesday with extended hours to service would-be voters prior to them casting their ballots. Hoosiers must remember the following when going to the polls:
- The Indiana primary is open to all registered voters-Democrats, Republicans, and Independents.
- If you are 18 by November 4th, 2008, you can vote on May 6th, 2008.
- You must bring a photo ID issued by the state of Indiana or federal government. It must include an expiration date.
- If you are a new registrant, you must bring a photo ID with your current address or a utility bill, bank statement, paycheck or government document with your current address.
- Student ID from an Indiana state school works if it includes a photo and an expiration date.
