We’re not smart enough. No, maybe, we aren’t involved enough…no that can’t be it. Maybe, we don’t know what is best for us. Yes. That’s it. We’re incapable of making sound decisions that will impact our futures. After the 1980 democratic national convention, the supposed liberal party instituted SUPER delegates. This rules change affords those “active” in party politics the most influence in who actually becomes the party’s presidential nominee. Essentially, those who run with the politicos in the party or the insiders are the one’s most likely to garner the party’s official nomination. SUPER delegate status is bestowed on current or former elected officeholders and party officials. They have the ability to support any candidate for the presidential nomination. Many SUPER delegates pledge their support to the leading presidential candidates prior to the actual party convention. The catch is many of the SUPER delegates still hold elected office and if their votes are contrary to the votes of their constituents it sets up a precarious dynamic.
If their constituents demand that their elected leaders vote in line with them it means SUPER delegates like Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) might be in trouble. Senator Barack Obama finished with 58.6% of the vote in her 35th congressional district while Senator Hillary Clinton received 39.1%. Waters has publicly stated that she will not under any circumstances back Obama. She added that even if her constituents in her congressional district (the ones that vote for her every two years) vote in favor of Obama her support remains firmly behind Clinton. It will be interesting how her constituents respond to her stance in November when she is up for re-election.
This year’s democratic national convention may house an unprecedented amount of back room wheeling and dealing. The current incomplete delegate count looks something like this Obama 840 to 849 delegates and Clinton 829 to 838. The candidates are neck and neck. These close primaries and caucuses are expected to continue into this weekend. By the time the steamy days of August roll around the SUPER delegates will be super important. The purpose of the SUPER-delegate system is to act as a check on the voting system. This means that the candidates who are not party favorites have a tougher time securing the democratic presidential nomination. This system reeks of elitism and paternalism. Though, this is the same party that is determined to reform the voting process so that they can “…restore confidence in our voting process” and “…ensure that our voting system is fair for every American.”Basically, the party rules delineate that Mr. and Ms. Commoner lack the discernment necessary to select a presidential candidate. The democrats need a reality check.

There is an online petition to support the prevention of a “Superdelegate problem”.

The Clinton campaign didn’t have a healthcare plan befor it felled and they don’t have one now. Well to be honest, if everyone is a goverment employee, then the Clinton healthcare plan will work for everyone. Unfortunately some are self employed, independent contractors or work for private employors or small business. Under the Clinton healthcare plan these people would be penalized if they don’t pay for their healthcare. This means that most of your family members and friends will have their paychecks garnished. We all know that it doesn’t stop there if it is a goverment enforcement. There will be fines and then misdemeanors which is a criminal offense defined as less serious than a felony. Why did Ms. Clinton decide on this approach? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this out. Big business, big Corporation call it what you will, they want their money back and in order for Ms. Clinton to get their support in her race to presidency she is giving victory to one side (the healthcare providers) by promising to them that she will have the poeople wages garnished if they continue to give healthcare. Thus allowing her to shout the words “UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE” This is a shady tactic and makes fools out of every american that falls for this trick. The Obama healthcare plan is for the people. Poor people, middle class and rich people can rest assured that there is no tricks or penalties in the Obama healthcare plan. VOTE OBAMA!!
[...] Really? Making the decision to get your skulled bashed in for walking across a bridge in Selma, Alabama for equal and fair treatment was easier than telling team Clinton that you are supporting the manifestation of the “Dream.” Damn what kind of mojo do the Clinton’s possess? Watch John Lewis speak about his defection to team Obama. I blogged over a week ago that team Hillary lost influential Negro Mafia Member congressman John Lewis (D-GA). I guess Lewis’ constiuents spoke louder than the Clintons and he listened. Or, maybe, Lewis remembered his roots as a young civil rights activist often at odds with the movement’s older more conservative leadership. Now that the icon has made his decision he needs to work on the rest of his people in the Congressional Black Caucus. See Maxine Waters. [...]
