I promise you today is better…way better than the super bowl. BOO to Mayor Bloomberg (NYC) for scheduling the city’s ticker tape parade for the Giants on the same day millions of Americans are scheduled to vote. The actual voting process in America is already flawed enough without a huge parade to cause congestion, confusion, and re-routes. Most states give voters the opportunity to vote during the hours of 6:00 am to 7:00 pm. These hours make it difficult for most working people to vote. People are running out of their homes at the crack of dawn, arriving late to work, or leaving work early to hustle to the booth. A person really has to be committed to actually cast their ballot. I remember being out of school on Election Day. What happened to that? Why isn’t Election Day a national holiday? Where’s the grassroots campaign for this?

is that just for the presidential elections now? (if that?) it seems like it would be nice to put that civic priority on voting. (my wife had to get up at the crack of dawn. i had to leave work asap and then go downtown and take the baby with me while i voted)
but i think, more importantly, it’s just nice to know that 1) your vote counts (since, strategically, it doesn’t so much, not the way this ‘demo’cracy is set up and 2) you’re voting for someone you can get behind. which isn’t always the case.
